Lesson Guide - ‘Happy Blues’

John’s notes:
I composed this tune to demonstrate how jus a few common
‘TRIAD’ shapes is all that’s needed to create an interesting
melody.
This tune is a upbeat ‘jolly’ Blues with a typical ‘Rag
Time/Shuffle rhythm. Blues tunes can be happy as well as sad !
This arrangement prepares you for learning the ‘Blues’ style
which is the origins of all western modern music, and still going
strong today !
This is a typical blues ‘stand alone’ guitar arrangement (no
backing accompaniment). So I highly recommend using a
metronome. The target tempo is 125 bpm but if you find this
difficult learn each phrase at a tempo you can comfortably
manage and work to build up the speed. Achieving accurate
timing is essential.
