Why playing Instrumentals is important.Learning and playing the ‘melody’ of a tune is an enjoyable way of reinforcing your scale knowledge and techniques. Very few people can sing well so just playing chords (strumming) by yourself soon gets boring! Playing an instrumental version of a tune allows you to improve your guitar skills, and play without limitation in any key. It’s not about the tunes! The tunes below are simply a ‘frame work’ that I’ve created that contain techniques that will add greatly to your guitar playing ‘tool box’ no matter what style you normally enjoy playing. Practicing these techniques as part of a tune is more rewarding and educational than a stale repeating exercise!NOTE; My arrangements should suit the majority of members. I often adapt a tune to members needs, abilities, and preferences.
